Whether your student is in high school and just beginning their college search or they are in college and are considering changing majors like 80% of college students do, Career Vision can help them increase their exposure to colleges, majors, and opportunities they may not know exist.

I have spent the past 14 years learning about jobs and majors DAILY and have even been teaching my own kids 5 jobs a day since they were as young as 2 so theoretically I am well on my way to reaching knowledge of over 32,850 majors, jobs, careers, and entrepreneurial ventures in the next 4-5 years.

Do an experiment at home tonight. Set a timer for 2 minutes and have you and your teen compete to make a list of as many jobs as you can in 2 minutes. Next pick a category you both know a lot about like movies, ice cream flavors, NFL teams, states, animals, make up brands, Disney or Marvel characters, Fruits and Vegetables, etc. Set a timer for 2 minutes again and compete. Which task was easier?

For example if your student finds themselves doodling during biology class, did you know there is a medical scientific illustration program? If they love theme parks and save up for your annual passes every year but are planning to major in business, did you know there is a theme park management program that they can do half their classes at the them park? If they collect Nike shoes and are planning to become an engineer, did you know there are degrees in footwear engineering? If they really wanted to be a pediatrician but are struggling in their Bio and Chem Classes but still have a heart to work with sick children, child life therapy may be the perfect fit. Do they love gardening and are thinking about a degree in Psychology, did you know there is something called a Horticulture Therapy? Maybe they blow all their money on Funko Pops and lego sets and love 3D printing their own replicas. A degree inToy Design is a thing. Perhaps working at Apple in marketing is the dream first job, well then being near Apple may be kinda essential so they don’t end up doing internships and projects for Purina Dog Food if their university marketing department has funding from that company locally. Finance may seem like a likely choice if they are a Math Whiz? Did you know there is something called an Actuary that is super high in demand and they can test for an entry level position at about $60K with no college degree and with just Calculus level 3 math?

Your teen can never become what they don’t know exists so let me help expose your family to the amazing colleges, majors, and jobs that are out there but have yet to make it to your radar.

Pricing is just $60-75 for an assessment and a 1 hour ZOOM appointment where we talk about colleges, majors, careers, summer job ideas, internships, volunteer opportunities, and other ideas to help you learn more about your interests and passions you maybe have never considered. I don’t use algorithms to do my work. I carefully read your students responses and combine their interests to help you find unique programs.

You are probably spending way more than $60-75 on tutoring, SAT prep, college tours, etc. so this is a great investment to help ensure you know your options that you don’t know exist and you are making decisions that will give you the best future possible.

Normally we know more about “trivial things” than what we are going to be doing for 50+ years of our lives, especially because if you go back to that job lis and cross off things your child DOES NOT want to do, how many choices are left? Most of the jobs on that first list were uniformed positions we all learn in preschool on community helper day and they stick with us because we “see them”. We have not made a habit of asking people who are not dressed in uniforms wearing normal clothes what they do on a daily basis. Think about when you pick your teen up at school, you only know the jobs of the parents who show up in scrubs, with a name tag on, or who have a company name embroidered on their shirt or drive a company car. What is everyone else doing to earn money? Unless you have had a conversation with them all, your career exposure is limited.

Let me come along side you and your family and show you the world as you have maybe never seen it before through my unique process.

College and Career Exploration

  1. A link to an open-ended Google form for your student to fill out prior to their career exploration appointment. These questions are not like other assessments your student has done at school. These questions ask about what they are watching on YouTube, what they would spend money on if they won the Lottery, what they would bring to a desert island, what life looks like at 40. etc. It helps me get to know them, not their strengths or aptitudes.

  2. A few questions via email for 1 or more adults to fill out about the student prior to their career exploration appointment just to help bridge a few gaps in the student questionnaire and so I know your hopes and worries about their future so we can address them through my process.

  3. Me sitting down with your student and adult responses for 30 minutes immediately PRIOR to the career exploration appointment so we can hit the ground running and not waste time getting to know each other and ensure our hour together is an hour of ideas from me that you don’t know exists, not me collecting data and then wanting to meet with you again and charge you again.

  4. A 1 Hour Zoom meeting where I do a “Brain Dump” for your student and at least 1 Adult, preferably 2 if possible, where I will expose you to college majors, careers, entrepreneurship, volunteer work, jobs, internships, etc related to your student’s areas of interest to help them determine what they may be interested in exploring and doing to spend their time and earn their money in high school, college , and beyond.

  5. An opportunity to send me a follow up email requesting information about 5 things from our call that you want more research about.

  6. Free office hours while I drive or clean to call and ask any questions you may have as you navigate your college and career exploration process.

For the cost of dinner out as a family, less than a trip to an amusement park, or $5 a month if you broke it down over the course of a year, you can meet with me for an hour and learn things you have never heard about that can drastically change how your student will spend the rest of their life earning their money. We can never become what we don’t know exits, let me show you a whole new world of possibilities customized to who they are and what they love.
